Carolyn Swiszcz uses painting and video art to capture the unsung and overlooked cityscapes that shape our daily experience. A BFA from MCAD and 20 years of Minnesota living have lead Swiszcz into a unique fascination with the simultaneously arid and enchanting aspects of dilapidated storefront architecture and worn scenery. Her videos, such as West St. Paul and Picture Window, incorporate imaginative hand crafted props and an uncommon theatricality and witty detail. While she says her work fills her with both amusement and a profound sense of doom, Swiszcz also relishes working in a place where artists "can truly have it all".
